What is NavRod?
NavRod is a portable, rechargeable marine navigation-light mast concept for boats where permanent electrical systems or fixed navigation lights are impractical.
What lights are incorporated?
The current NavRod One concept combines a 360° all-round white light with integrated red port and green starboard sidelights.
Does the boat need an electrical system?
No permanent boat electrical connection is intended. NavRod is designed around its own rechargeable power source.
How is NavRod installed?
The concept is designed to fit compatible fishing rod holders or optional dedicated transom, wall, rail or deck mounts, depending on the vessel.
Can it move between boats?
Yes. Portability and tool-free removal are core design principles, allowing the mast to be stored or transferred between compatible mounting locations.
How is it charged?
The current engineering concept anticipates rechargeable lithium power and USB-C charging. Final charging hardware is subject to engineering validation.
How long will it run?
The engineering target in current development materials is approximately 10–14 hours. Final runtime will depend on the production battery, optics and certified operating configuration.
Is NavRod waterproof?
Waterproof marine construction is a design objective. Final IP rating will be stated only after the production design completes applicable testing.
Is NavRod USCG or COLREG certified?
Not yet. NavRod is being designed toward applicable navigation-light requirements, but final compliance and certification depend on the finished production configuration successfully completing the required engineering and testing pathway.
Is NavRod patented?
NavRod is patent pending. Current project materials identify USPTO Application 64/105,009.
Will there be other NavRod products?
The roadmap contemplates multiple mast heights and future accessory modules. These are development concepts and are not represented as currently available products.
